Flipkart.com-Fresh,Exciting,Satisfying.

People who know me well, are my aware of my love-affair with reading.

May it be Fiction,Non-Fiction,Newspapers,Encyclopedias,Blogs….I need to keep reading something through the day to keep my mind rational and civilised.

I have about 300 books…most of them novels bought at old books store.(You see I am a student>>No Job>>No Money)

OK so getting to the point,I had seen Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece,A Clockwork Orange, about a year and a half back and was expectedly bowled over by the genius of the film.To date it remains one of the finest movies I have ever seen!

After a bit of ‘Googling’,I found out that it was based on the novel of same name by Anthony Burgess.I decided I had to have it.

I searched and searched for 18 months, scavenged every known book store(Old&New)in Mumbai but to no avail.

Then last week I found a copy at Landmark Bookstores at Andheri, but as fate had it,I was hard on cash ,the book’s print wasn’t so good…and the book was (uh-hum) ridiculously expensive …..

So I let go with a heavy heart and a crestfallen expression. My friend, noting my sluggish stride inquired.I told him my story and he recommended to me,Flipkart.com!

Well,so the day before yesterday I went to their website, searched for A Clockwork Orange and found the copy I wanted. It retails for Indian Rupee ₹ 199,but there was a discount of Indian Rupee ₹ 40 on the list price >>>>and I got it for just Indian Rupee ₹ 159(wooohooo)\m/

The most important factor which endeared Flipkart.com to me was they had COD(Cash-On-Delivery) option.I have no credit card,so this proves MIGHTY helpful.

Plus the shipping is absolutely free,if you purchase goods totaling  Indian Rupee ₹ 100 or more. :D

I registered and ordered it on the 6th of April 2011. I was to expect the delivery within 3 days. But I am going out  of town tomorrow, and won’t be back till Monday,so I sent them an email and asked them to make adjustments with their couriers partners and deliver by today(Friday),and if not possible then on Tuesday.

The customer care was really helpful and they assured me that I would get the book whenever I wanted. Both on the phone and in the email, they were polite and understanding.THUMBS UP!

And so,as the cliché goes”And The Rest Is History ……”I received the book in 40 hours after ordering,a book I couldn’t find in a single book store in Mumbai, even after searching for months.

Man, you might read a lot, but you borrow too much from books. Try being a little less dramatic, and keep writing just as well.

plus, amazing discounts! :D I devoted a short paragraph thanking flipkart as well on my review. It’s impossible to find obscure books anywhere in Mumbai. I recently went to Strand, in the hope of picking up some gems. Seems they’ve sunk to new depths of mediocrity… Well, Flipkart is simply a novel idea! It’s cheaper to order books on Flipkart then to buy them from ordinary book stores as well.
P.S. Great to see updates on this blog, however infrequent they may be!
